"CUR" at the beginning of an image file name means that the image was created by a curatorial staff member. These study images may be digital point-and-shoot photographs, when we don\'t yet have high-quality studio photography, or they may be scans of older negatives, slides, or photographic prints, providing historical documentation of the object.
CATALOGUE DESCRIPTION Upper part of painted wooden sistrum, probably a funerary piece. Handle missing. Condition: General condition good, handle missing, edges somewhat chipped, two small pins originally inserted in upper part for unknown purposes, one of which is now missing. The sistrum is of conventional type with handle ending in a Hathor head. Lower part of handle was apparently attached separately. Background painted white, cross-bars painted dark blue-green. Possibly a votive offering, more probably a piece of funerary furniture.
