Provenance FAQ
CATALOGUE DESCRIPTION Oba's armlet made of ivory and coral. Has a reddish patina, with high relief carvings in repeat band around outside: pattern repeated twice of two men supporting central third man between them, followed by two men blowing on long pipe musical instruments and two stork-like birds. The central group is two figures of the Oba with mud fish legs (this is a representation also associated with the god, Olakun). He is supported by attendants. The top and bottom rims of the armlet have carved repeat pattern of coiled or bean design. Drilled bands at the rims have ten coral drilled beads attached.
