Catalogue Description:
Rectangular, pine blanket chest with top hinged at back; molded top and base, bun feet. Top and four sides plus underside of top gessoed and scratch-carved, with polychrome scenes depicting Indians hunting game; exotic animals in background. Scene on underside of lid depicts arcade of palm trees flanked on left by seated figure and sword-bearing guards; on right by men in conversation; swords on couch. Interior has tray (removable) on top. CONDITION: Good, about six chips in gesso in lower right quadrant of top.
