Catalogue Description:
Cast metal mantel clock with figure of George Washington, the whole on a rusticated metal base. George Washington presented in military uniform with shoulder epaulettes, one hand resting on top of clock, with sword beneath palm, other hand holding a tri-corner hat with badge depicting the Seal of United States, behind figure is a draped cloak; clock housed in an rectangular, illusionistic stone monument with circular dial with a printed paper face with roman numerals and metal long and short hand, hole at lower section of clock face for winding key, the whole protected by a glass cover set in a thin brass surround; pendulum of metal and brass now detached from mechanism. Reverse of clock with wooden access panel, held in place with four modern screws, reverse of draped cloak of George Washington with two modern screws. Interior clock mechanism in brass and printed paper label with instructions on winding clock, covered with modern clear plastic cover.
