Catalogue Description:
Seated figure of an Oba. Wearing wide skirted costume, shirt with sleeves, textured to appear as basketry, cross decoration on chest, hands on skirt, wears 5 broad bracelet, 4 ankle bracelets, high collar formed by rows of the typical cylindrical pearl motif, elaborate headdress, cap with knob, various ornaments attached, plus ribbon in front of ears which falls to waist. Facial features typical of Benin, large eyes, heavy nose, protruding mouth. Figure rubbed with red substance. CONDITION: Good.
