Catalogue Description:
Salt-glazed stoneware jug, tan ground with blue glaze accents. Jug generally ovoid shaped, bulges out in middle, and tapers at top to narrow ringed mouth and at bottom to narrow base. Thick strap handle attached at side of neck and shoulder. On body opposite handle, impressed inscription: "D. GOODALE. / HARTFORD" above an incised outline of an eagle with American shield. Eagle decoration and joins of handle accented with blue glaze. CONDITION: Good; several cracks and spots around body (firing imperfections); large chip around mouth and around base; chips in glaze below handle.
