Visitors from the D/deaf community are invited to explore Seydou Keïta: A Tactile Lens on an American Sign Language (ASL) tour, led by a Deaf teaching artist. After a brief meet-and-greet, encounter bold yet sensitive work by the premier studio photographer of 20th-century Africa. Witness how Keïta’s sitters in Bamako, Mali, tell a story of profound political and social transformation through their choices of backdrops, accessories, and apparel.
This tour is designed for the d/Deaf community in ASL only, without voice interpretation. If you are an ASL student, email access@brooklynmuseum.org for more information about ASL student tours for those at level 3 or above.
