Japanese Film Series—From Samurai to Superhero

The Museum presents three afternoons of Japan's cinematic visions, including films that have influenced Takashi Murakami and classics depicting both traditional and contemporary Japanese culture. Discussions follow select films. Series continues in May and June.
1 p.m. Royal Space Force: Wings of Honneamise (Hiroyuki Yamaga, 1987, 125 min., animated, NR). A young slacker unexpectedly becomes the first man on a parallel earth.
3:30 p.m. Dreams (Akira Kurosawa, 1990, 119 min., NR). Eight of the director's dreams and nightmares from boyhood to old age.
