Jazz with John Ellis & Double-Wide
Relax and enjoy a summer afternoon of music and art. Hear tenor saxophonist John Ellis and his band, Double-Wide, featuring Jason Marsalis on drums, Marcus Rojas on tuba, and Brian Charette on organ. One of jazz music's brightest stars, John Ellis recently released a new album, Dance Like There's No Tomorrow, a New Orleans-inspired collection which has garnered rave reviews from The New York Times, Downbeat, and allaboutjazz.com . WBGO's Gary Walker hosts.
The program also includes gallery talks at on the special exhibition, From the Village to Vogue: The Modernist Jewelry of Art Smith , a celebration of the work of an acclaimed Brooklyn-based African American jewelry maker inspired by jazz greats such as Duke Ellington. Jewelry design expert Carolyn Kelly gives the talks.
