Jazz with John Ellis & Double-Wide

    Relax and enjoy a summer afternoon of music and art. Hear tenor saxophonist John Ellis  and his band, Double-Wide, featuring Jason Marsalis on drums, Marcus Rojas on tuba, and Brian Charette on organ. One of jazz music's brightest stars, John Ellis recently released a new album, Dance Like There's No Tomorrow, a New Orleans-inspired collection which has garnered rave reviews from The New York Times, Downbeat, and allaboutjazz.​com . WBGO's Gary Walker hosts.

    The program also includes gallery talks at on the special exhibition, From the Village to Vogue: The Modernist Jewelry of Art Smith , a celebration of the work of an acclaimed Brooklyn-based African American jewelry maker inspired by jazz greats such as Duke Ellington. Jewelry design expert Carolyn Kelly gives the talks.

    The program is free with Museum admission. Presented in conjunction with WBGO and Heart of Brooklyn's "Jazz: Brooklyn’s Beat."
