Fund for African American Art: An Evening with Sylvia Ann Soares

Thursday, June 18, 2015, 6:30–8:30 pm

You are invited to join Brooklyn Museum Trustees and supporters of the Fund for African American Art for its final event of the season. The evening will celebrate the gallery debut of our 2014 Fund acquisition, the phenomenal Head by African American Narragansett-Pequot sculptor Nancy Elizabeth Prophet (1890–1960). Prophet was the first person of color to graduate from the Rhode Island School of Design (1918). Actress Sylvia Ann Soares will render a compelling one-woman performance with a reading of Prophet's Paris diary.

Kindly R.S.V.P. by phone at (718) 501-6589 or by email  before Thursday, June 11. Drinks and light refreshments will be served.
