Frida Kahlo: A Perfumed Portrait SOLD OUT

Thursday, April 4, 2019, 6:30–9 pm

This event is now sold out.

Experience some of Frida Kahlo’s favorite perfumes and consider the power of fragrance as a form of self-expression, in this multisensory look at our special exhibition Frida Kahlo: Appearances Can Be Deceiving. Jessica Murphy, fragrance culture writer, educator, and Manager of Visitor Engagement, presents an intimate talk in which we’ll smell five perfumes and learn about their individual profiles, stories, and place in Kahlo’s life and work. Then, view examples of Kahlo’s art, clothing, and personal possessions in Frida Kahlo: Appearances Can Be Deceiving, and discuss the role of scent in how Kahlo shaped and shared her identity. Take home a piece of the experience with a gift of perfume samples from Brooklyn-based MCMC Fragrances.
