Surround Yourself with Solid Gold

Watch how one of this shimmering exhibition’s many majestic artworks came together.

We’ve officially opened the doors to Solid Gold, where you can immerse yourself in the majesty of one of humankind’s most dazzling obsessions. Among the exhibition’s more than 500 works is Zadik Zadikian’s Path to Nine. Watch this monumental piece come together below.

Made from 999 gold leaf–covered bars meticulously arranged to form a wall, Path to Nine suggests that wealth can be an obstacle as well as a path or journey. In some cultures, the number nine is linked to eternal life, enlightenment, or the completion of a journey. Nine is also connected to the purest gold: 24 karats is sometimes referred to as “999 fine” or “99.9 percent pure.”

See Path to Nine alongside hundreds of works of art, fashion, film, music, and design in Solid Gold. Buy your tickets now.
