Mary of Bethany
Biblical, flourished circa A.D. 30, Bethany, near Jerusalem
Mary of Bethany, the sister of
Martha and Lazarus, was an early follower of Jesus Christ, said to have anointed his feet when he visited her family's home. Many scholars have suggested that Mary of Bethany is in fact the so-called
Mary Magdalene, although there is no historical evidence for this connection.
