Teen Night: Power and Presence
Friday, May 17, 2024
5–7:30 pm
Martha A. and Robert S. Rubin Pavilion, 1st Floor; Beaux-Arts Court, 3rd Floor
This Teen Night is gonna be giant. Don’t miss our popular teen-led program centered on art and activism. The May edition features art-making, performances, and much more inspired by Giants: Art from the Dean Collection of Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys.
5–6 pm Gallery activities: Uncover the evening’s themes with a self-guided activity in Giants. Then join artist Tiffany Baker, photographer/designer Tyler Jordan, and photographer Jordan Peterson for a panel discussion moderated by BkM Teens. Learn about the artists’ unique crafts and the messages behind their works, as well as how they have developed over the years.
5:45–7:15 pm Art-making and food: Create your own power symbol, take cute shots in our photo booth, recreate artworks from Giants, and get a screen-printed T-shirt with Imagination Project Inc., among other fun activities. Plus, enjoy snacks!
6–7:30 pm Performances: Close out the evening with performances by poet Valentina Guzman, emerging artist Big Steppa Lani, DJ Anjelly, and others—and hop on the open mic!
Free; registration is encouraged. Open to ages 14–19. Follow #bkmteens on Instagram and Facebook for more details.
Teen Night is organized by the Teen Night Planning Committee, our paid teen internship in public programming.
