Hidden in Plain Site: Beverly Buchanan

Beverly Buchanan’s work explored the relationship between place and memory, in dialogue with feminism and art movements like Land Art and Post-Minimalism. Nevertheless, Buchanan has largely been excluded from the history of art of the 1960s and 1970s. Curator Lowery Stokes Sims reflects on her early relationship with the artist, in conversation with a younger generation that has been inspired by Buchanan’s work. Participants include critic Andy Campbell and artist and curator Park McArthur. Presented in conjunction with the exhibition Beverly Buchanan—Ruins and Rituals.
