• Markings: Mark impressed on keyhole-shaped section in center of handle: partially struck or worn stamp of an eagle with spread wings behind a shield, lines with stars on end (rays?) radiate from behind eagle's head; below eagle on right, "B."; below eagle on left, illegible letter [probably "T."]; all within a beaded frame in general shape of figure 8 (or two horseshoes placed end to end). [Lower section of stamp is illegible.]

• Catalogue Description: Highly polished pewter porringer; round bowl rises from flat bottom to squat, bulging body with flaring lip. Flat, triangular handle soldered to side is decorated with a crown, curving foliate designs, and openwork. CONDITION: Good; overall scratches and pitting; deep pit marks, especially on inside bottom and handle; large gouge (manufacturing imperfection?) around edge of underside.
