Description |
Sides of handle are straight-edged and rounded; they taper gradually towards the bowl. At about two-thirds down from the top is a curved semi-circular projection decorated with a molded design consisting of a mirror image intertwined S-scroll design. Top of handle (center) is decorated with tapering triangular-shaped reserve containing a molded decoration consisting of a diaphanous garbed boy playing a double-barrel horn (Pan). The figure is facing towards the left edge of the handle. He is set against a stippled background decorated with a floral vine pattern on top and three vertically aligned flowers in bottom. Reverse of handle is decorated with four molded incised lines that form a triangular division on top two-thirds of handle. The curved projection is decorated with intertwined S-scrolls as on front. Arcadian Pattern.
Condition: Good; there are minor scratches on surface; none of the silver plate has worn off from the heel of the bowl. |
