Marks On reverse (slightly off-center, underglaze green), printed in circle, outer circumference: "GOLDEN GATE INTERNATIONAL EXPOSITION"; "AN OFFICIAL SOUVENIR" with "COPYRIGHTED" above and "LICENSE 63C" below. Near foot-ring in overglaze gold: "HOMER LAUGHLIN" initial monogram "HLCC / MADE IN USA" below.

Description Plate. Glazed earthenware, polychrome printed decoration. 1939 Golden Gate International Exposition souvenir. Decoration on outer rim divided into five compartments by stylized flames and stepped braces. Each compartment has a different hall at the exposition. The Golden Gate Bridge with the sun setting behind in the top compartment. The background is blue fading to white around the buildings. The center has a garland of yellow flowers on a vine with small leaves surrounding a mustard-colored medallion with another bridge in the center. Circumscribing the medallion, in the same mustard color, is "INTERNATIONAL [triangle] EXPOSITION [triangle] GOLDEN [triangle] GATE [triangle]". In the medallion, "1939 / SAN FRANCISCO / BAY" Condition: Overall, very good. Minor imperfections to glaze. Scratch across lower portion of central decoration. Smaller scratches throughout. Reverse scuffs to rim and kiln dirt.
