Metrodora

Metrodora was a Greek physician who wrote a medical text, most likely titled “On Women’s Diseases,” in the late fifth century C.E., which is thought to be the oldest surviving medical text by a woman. It is primarily concerned with gynecological issues, including treatment for vaginal infections and use of the speculum for medical examination, although it also contains general health information on hair removal, treatment of hemorrhoids, and other typical medical problems.
